Amarillo police arrest man for breaking into 2 businesses, evading arrest early this morning

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo police arrested a man early this morning for charges related to the burglary of two businesses.

Around 1:23 a.m., officers were called to an alarm at a business near I-40 and Ross.

Video at the business showed a man breaking into the business and leaving with several items.

Around 2:57 a.m., officers were called to another business near Southwest 6th Avenue and South Lipscomb Street.

The first officer to arrive saw a man leave a car at the location and run to a car parked on Southwest 5th Avenue and Parker Street.

The person got into the car and drove away, wrecked near Southwest 4th Avenue and South Florida Street, and then began running away from officers.

Officers caught the man and took him into custody. He was identified as 35-year-old Cory Allan Brashears.

Police say they found items in the car that had been taken during the previous burglary and a firearm that had been reported stolen out of a vehicle in Amarillo.

He was arrested for two counts of burglary of a building, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, evading arrest or detention in a vehicle, evading arrest or detention on foot and unlawful use of criminal instruments.

He has been booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
