AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The McLean Tigers were looking to become back to back state champions in 1A High School Football, but they came up just short in the very last play.

The Tigers faced off against the Blum Bobcats, and the Bobcats led big for the majority of the game, but the Tigers made a crucial push late in the second half.

McLean’s star running back Ben Crockett tied the game up at 52 with a huge touchdown run, but Blum’s running back Coltin Gonzales quickly answered with a huge touchdown run of his own with about two minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The game came down to one last play with two seconds left in the game giving the Tigers one last chance to send the game into overtime, but it was Blum’s defense who came up with a huge game-ending stop.

Blum defeated McLean 58-52, ending the Tigers’ hopes of a repeat state title.
