‘Person of interest’ in Clovis homicide case arrested

CLOVIS, New Mexico (KFDA) - New Mexico authorities have confirmed that the person of interest in a homicide case has been arrested.

The Clovis Police Department has arrested 26-year-old Jonny Ray Vigil in reference to the death of 36-year-old Jahmall Burge.

Yesterday about 6:41 p.m., the department received a call about a man who had been shot multiple times at a home in the 1000 block of North Lea Street.

When officers arrived, they found Burge dead with gunshot wounds in the kitchen.

Around 7:03 this morning, Clovis police went to a home in the 500 block of West 10th Street where they were able to make contact with Vigil and take him into custody without incident.

Vigil was transported to the Curry County Adult Detention Center and has been booked on an open count of murder.

The Clovis Police Department thanks the public for their assistance during the course of this investigation.
