AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The City of Amarillo is kicking off its annual preventive sealcoating projects around the city on June 10, which could mean delays for some drivers.

The projects will reseal some street surfaces in Amarillo, guarding them against water damage and providing a fresh surface to drive on.

Areas scheduled for treatment include:

  • Between Amarillo Boulevard and Willow Creek Drive from Taylor Street to Western Street
  • Between I-40 and SW 9th Avenue from Bell Street to Coulter Street

Various roads in these areas will have work done throughout the summer, which could delay traffic in the area for up to two hours at a time.

Those living along affected areas will be asked to move their cars from street parking the Friday before the treatment is scheduled.

Sealcoating will start near Willow Creek Drive and River Road and work southward.

Around three days after the treatment, a city street sweeper will remove excess rock and debris from each treated road.

Anyone needing more information is asked to call the City of Amarillo’s Streets Division at (806) 378-6815.
