CANYON, TX (KFDA) - West Texas A&M University’s softball Head Coach Candace Abrams has resigned, according to the university’s director of athletics.
A press release sent out on Tuesday announced that Abrams has resigned as the head softball coach to seek other opportunities.
“I appreciate all that Candace has brought to our program over the last five years,” said WTAMU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Michael McBroom. “She’s a competitor, a leader and a role model for student-athletes. We wish her all the best in her next challenge.”
Abrams just completed her second season as head coach for the Lady Buffs as WT went 32-15, including the program’s seventh straight trip to a South Central Regional.
A nationwide search for the university’s next softball head coach is underway.
NewsChannel 10 has reached out to WT’s athletic department and was told Abrams resigned on her own accord and it was a personnel decision.
