CANYON, TX (KFDA) - Canyon Independent School District announced the location of its three new schools as part of the 2018 Bond Project.
“The high school site was selected in conjunction with working with the City of Amarillo. We wanted to be sure that we sought their guidance," said CISD Superintendent Dr. Darryl Flusche. "It was a site that doesn’t overextend the resources but also is responsible for the location for development that is happening, where subdivisions are going in, and certainly, proximity was in a good place for our school district and that’s how the high school site was chosen.”
The new CISD High School #3 will be located in the southeast area of the district on the corner of Helium Road and Arden Road. The school is designed to serve 1,200 students and is scheduled to open in 2022.
The Heritage Hills Elementary School will be across the street from the new high school on the corner of Helium Rd. and Arden Rd. The building is designed to serve 750 students and the campus is scheduled to open in 2021.
The Spring Canyon Elementary School is located to serve the south side of the district on West Country Club Road between VFW Road and Highway 87. The location is a two-minute drive from Kimbrough Stadium and is designed to serve 500 students. The campus is scheduled to open in 2021.
