Potter County officials find 4 pounds of heroin hidden in children’s toys during traffic stop, 2 arrested

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Two people were arrested after Potter County Sheriff’s Office officials found four pounds of heroin hidden in children’s toys during a traffic stop near Bushland.

On Thursday, May 9, Potter County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division deputies pulled over a car on I-40 near Bushland for a traffic violation.

19-year-old Raul Ivan Bustos Nunez and 23-year-old Ricardo Tosqui Moreno, both of El Monte, California, were in the car.

Deputies said they could smell marijuana coming from the car during the traffic stop.

Once they searched the car, deputies found a small amount of marijuana along with four pounds of heroin hidden in children’s toys.

The $200,000 worth of drugs were believed to have come from California and were on their way to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Both men were arrested and taken to the Randall County Detention Center on federal charges.

Officials said the investigation is still ongoing.
