Police: Intoxicated driver caused 3-vehicle crash, leaving 2 in critical condition

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Officials have released more information after the Amarillo Police Department worked the scene of a major crash under Canyon Drive on Hillside road on Thursday afternoon.

Police say it was a three-vehicle wreck due to a drunk driver.

A Ford Focus driven by a 56-year-old Amarillo man was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Hillside. The Focus hit a westbound Ford Explorer driven by a 37-year-old woman. The man driving the Focus then hit a Honda SUV driven by an 18-year-old woman.

All three drivers were taken to the hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening.

APD said alcohol is a factor in the crash and charges are pending.

Traffic was blocked in both directions on Hillside Road but is now reopened.
