CANYON, TX (KFDA) - The Texas Broadcast Education Foundation has awarded a West Texas A&M University student a scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year.
Katy Zimmerman, a sophomore Digital Communication and Media student at WTAMU, received a $3,000 scholarship from the foundation.
The scholarship is only granted to a few students across Texas each year, according to a news release.
“This recognition motivates me even more to keep going and work harder in this field,” said Zimmerman. “I am extremely passionate about media and how powerful it is and the impact it can make for the good of this world.”
Zimmerman serves as an officer in WTAMU’s National Broadcasting Society chapter. She has also been involved in other campus roles, such as Rogers LEAD WT and Maroon Productions.
“She has earned a high GPA, but she hasn’t stopped in the classroom; she creates, she leads and she serves her community,” said Dr. Emily Kinsky, one of the advisers for WTAMU’s NBS chapter. "Katy is consistently engaged in learning and improving her craft.
