AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - A teen has died and two people have been hospitalized after a crash on the Dumas Highway in Amarillo on Sunday.
According to police, a 17-year-old man was driving a sports car carrying 17-year-old Andrea Elizalde and another 22-year-old man.
The driver lost control of the car and after several collisions, drove off the Hastings Avenue overpass and drove up the embankment, hitting the bottom of the southbound overpass before coming to a rest on Hastings Avenue.
Elizalde died on the scene.
The 22-year-old man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, while the 17-year-old driver received non-life threatening injuries.
Police believe alcohol, speed and seat belt usage were all factors in the crash.
An investigation is being conducted by the Amarillo Police Department.
