POTTER COUNTY, TX (KFDA) - Computer experts are working to get rid of two viruses that infected Potter County’s computers on Friday, April 19, but officials say the voting system is secure.
Election Administrator MeLynn Huntley said her system works completely independently from the county’s, and its security is solid. Her department had to make some adjustments to keep the election moving, but none of the voting machines are connected to the internet, which is where the infections apparently came from.
The county’s Information Technology Department and outside experts are separating each department’s area of the system to clean them.
Early voting started today and lasts through April 30.
