One vehicle accident sends woman to hospital with life threatening injuries, driver under arrest

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - A female passenger was ejected from a vehicle and sent to the hospital with life threatening injuries after an overnight accident in the 3400 block of S. Bell.

Sunday around 1:50 a.m. police were dispatched to the scene of a one vehicle accident involving a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Alfredo Renteria, 24.

Renteria had been northbound on S. Bell when he lost control of the SUV.

The vehicle left Bell Street, went down a cement embankment, crashed through several fences, and struck two trees before ending up back on the street.

He was arrested and booked into the Randall County Sheriff’s Office Jail on a charge of Intoxicated Assault.

Speed, alcohol, and no seat belt are factors in this wreck.

The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
