AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - After last week’s historic wind event, Amarillo Animal Management & Welfare will be waiving reclaim fees from March 19 to the 23.
AAMW said they did not see a significant increase in stray animals after gusts of wind reportedly reached 80-miles-per hour. However, they understand that animal owners may have other costs to take care of at the time, like repairing or replacing fences.
As a result, AAMW will be waiving kennel fees, rabies voucher fees, vaccine fees and microchipping fees. Veterinary bills will not be waived and also will not apply to animals being held for quarantines or dangerous animal investigations.
Although some reclaim fees are being waved, AAMW encourages pet owners to consider their Adoption Option, which includes spay or neuter, mirochip and the rabies vaccine. The cost is $55 for dogs and $45 for cats.
