AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Nearly 17,000 customers are still without power in Texas and New Mexico as a result of Wednesday’s wind event.
As of this afternoon, Xcel says 136,000 customers were impacted by outages.
Crews continue to work to repair the outages.
Xcel estimates the majority of those without power from the storm will be restored by 11:30 p.m. tonight with up to 98 percent restored by 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
All customers should have power by the end of the day on Saturday, as Xcel says some customers will require more complex reparis.
Xcel says close to 500 personnel are working to restore power around the area. They still have 1,600 jobs to complete out of a total of 2,850.
Crews will work around the clock to restore service to customers.
