AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Crews are responding to grass fires happening in Swisher, Cimarron and Carson counties.
According to the Randall County Fire Department’s spokesperson, units from Tulia, Happy and Canyon responded to a fire near Tulia.
The grass fire is located off I-27, just north of Tulia.
The fire, which burned 300 acres, reportedly started after a truck hauling a dumpster had something smoldering blow out of it.
Officials said the fire is 95 percent contained at this time.
According to the Cimarron County Sheriff’s Office, fire departments were on the scene of a grass fire Wednesday afternoon, as well as the Baca County and Cimarron County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the fire was on the Oklahoma/Colorado state line.
A grass fire has also broke out in Carson County.
The National Weather Service said the grass fire is happening northeast of Washburn, near the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.
A state trooper told NewsChannel 10 the fire started from the highway.
The Texas Forest Service responded to the fire, saying it burned 400 acres.
Officials said the fire has been contained.
