AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Amarillo Sod Poodles will be hosting public auditions for game day entertainment for their inaugural 2019 season.
On Saturday, Feb. 23, public auditions will be held for National Anthem performances, public address announcers, on-field emcees and mascot entertainers for the Amarillo Sod Poodles inaugural 2019 season.
Auditions will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Gilvin Broadcast Center at Amarillo College.
Soloists to quartets are invited to audition for ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ and ‘God Bless America’ for a change to perform at Hodgetown this season. Two winning contestants will be determined by a panel of guest judges and given the opportunity to perform on either Opening Night or Independence Day.
The Sod Poodles ask that all vocal performances be a cappella or accompanied by a personal instrument. Only traditional renditions of songs will be considered for selection.
Public address announcer and on-field emcee are also invited to audition on the 23. After checking in, candidates will be provided with instructions, materials and/or scripts on-site.
Those looking to audition for the mascot position must be between five-foot eight to five-foot ten inches to fit the costume. The Sod Poodles ask that individuals auditioning for this role wear workout-type or athletic attire. Anyone with high school, college and/or sports team mascot experience is preferred.
Walk-up auditions are welcome but are not guaranteed and will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, time permitting.
Because spots are limited, performers are encouraged to contact ahead of time to ensure an audition slot.
To request an audition, contact Sierra Todd at SierraT@sodpoodles.com with the position you are applying for in the subject line.
The Sod Poodles will open the 2019 season on Thursday, April 4 at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi. The inaugural home opener at Hodgetown will be held on Monday, April 8, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
