CANYON, TX (KFDA) - West Texas A&M University’s white buffalo statue has been moved from Kimbrough Memorial Stadium for refurbishment before their first football game this fall.

The buffalo statue, which has been at Kimbrough since 1967, is being temporarily moved to Amarillo for cleaning and painting.

The 1,700 pound statue will be restored and displayed in front of the new Buffalo Stadium before the first WT football game this fall.

Construction of the new stadium is already underway and the project is expected to be completed by August this year.
