AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Amarillo Economic Development Corporation will host the organization’s inaugural State of the Economy event on January 31, 2019, at 7:30 a.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel.
The event will provide a brief update on Amarillo’s economy, including discussion from national economic leaders on how macroeconomic issues affect the growth of the community.
AEDC’s VP of Marketing and Communications Reagan Hales says the event is about ensuring that the community can stay informed and involved in the conversation about the Panhandle’s future.
“We’ve been looking for an opportunity to bring a public dialogue about he health of our community’s economy to the public, and we’re really excited for the content that’s coming tomorrow morning,” said Hales.
She also added that the AEDC is hoping to make event not just informative, but applicable to people of all backgrounds.
"Maybe you’re a student looking for your entry into the workforce, [wondering] what careers are growing, "said Hales. “If you’re a small business, what’s the state of our community small business economy?”
Headlining the event will be keynote speaker Scott Nations.
Nations is the President and Chief Investment Officer of NationsShares and bestselling author.
He is also a regular contributor on CNBC, where he discusses markets, current economic events and the outlook of various financial vehicles.
Additionally, two more national speakers will discuss their areas of expertise and how larger scale economic trends can and will impact Amarillo’s economic outlook.
The event will focus on how large-scale national and international economic issues shape current and future prosperity in Amarillo.
The event will also discuss how business owners can best position themselves for growth in the current economic environment through workforce development, ecosystem alignment, and policy considerations.
