70 years later Boys Ranch has grown beyond the dreams of Cal Farley.

On Tuesday, friends and supporters got together to celebrate 70 years of Boys Ranch. Girls town is also celebrating 60 years of service.

Cal Farleys was founded on the site of Old Tascosa in 1939 . Girls town USA was founded in 1949 by Amelia Anthony and became affiliated in 1987.

Today Cal Farleys Boys Ranch is the largest privately funded child welfare providers specializing in both residential and community based services at no cost to the families.

"I think it is something remarkable and its something we ware not selfish with if you look at the crowd here we do have donors and supporters who have been donating since the 40s and 50s said Dan Adams, President and CEO.

The original name was the Maverick Boys Ranch . It began with 120 acres and 9 boys. Today it has grown to 11,000 acres and currently has 486 residents.

Donors and supporters are a big part of that growth.

"What I would say to donors this day and age go spend time closely to what you are putting your money into, its not that philanthropy has gone away but that philanthropy is more ,scrupulous." said Adams.

Other state wide celebrations are for scheduled Lubbock and the on the Capital steps in Austin this month.
