Victor Hernandez trains regularly at the gym and uses protein drinks as an important part of his training.

I take them every time i'm finished working out.

And usually as a small meal supplement.

Many people have concerns over the safety of protein drinks...

But one nutrition expert at Eat Rite says most people don't need to worry.

The biggest issue would be if you had a kidney problem...if you were on dialysis or had trouble digesting protein through the liver...

To figure out which product is best...

You should look for a few key elements on the label.

You wanna look for one that has no artificial flavor no artificial color...

That has a high quality biological value...

Like whey or egg white proteins.

Taking a protein drink could do great benefits to your health...

Especially if you take it in one part of the day.

There's some very good research done now on protein...

That if you take it within 30 minutes of exercise it really does play a factor in muscle  growth.

Protein drinks could help your diet and exercise program...

Such as the case with victor hernandez...

But it's also important to consume healthy carbs and fats in order to stay healthy.

Another thing to keep in mind before you start on a protein drink regiment...is that the supplement industry isn't regulated by the FDA.

That means you should always check with your doctor beforehand.
