Nokia Offers Severance to Employees

Cellphone maker, Nokia, is offering 1,000 of its employees severance packages to leave the company.

The company says it is trying avoid mandatory layoffs as it streamlines its operations.

The severance package will be available to workers starting March 1st.

Nokia is also asking its nearly 128,000 employees to take unpaid leave, go on sabbaticals, and use their vacation time instead of cashing it in.
