Amarillo Murder Suspect Arrested Crossing Mexico Border

The suspect in a 2001 Homicide in Amarillo is facing extradition charges after he is arrested while trying to re-enter the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says 30 year old Osvaldo Gallardo-Cadena was arrested near Santa Teresa, New Mexico on Saturday morning.  Officials say Cadena and 3 others were caught with nearly 300 pounds of Marijuana in their possession.

Cadena has a Homicide warrant from the March 2001 killing of a Mexican National in east Amarillo in the 1600 block of N. Fairfield.

Amarillo police have agreed to extradite him to face charges in the Murder.
