Prelim. Autopsy Results: Baby Died of Severe Head Trauma

Preliminary autopsy results show severe head trauma is the cause of death of a seven month old baby in Canyon.

Early reports say seven month old Thomas Villa died of cerebral edema, or severe head trauma.

Canyon Police Chief Bobby Griffin says this matches up to what he and investigators think happened to Thomas. They feel the baby was hit in the head, shaken violently, or thrown against the wall...a much different story from the boyfriend of the baby's mother.

It was last Wednesday when police say Thomas' mother's boyfriend called police saying the baby had fallen off the bed. He was taken to Baptist Saint Anthony's hospital and died a day later.

Police are still questioning people but say the mother and boyfriend are suspects. Chief Griffin says neither of them are cooperating with detectives. Their names have not been released.
