Toddlers Gesturing Builds Vocabulary

Researchers say parents should do more than just talk to their toddlers, they should gesture too.

Studies find pointing, waving and other moves seem to boost a budding vocabulary.

Scientist found that children who could convey meaning with gestures at 14 months went on to have a richer vocabulary in kindergarten.

The University of Chicago researchers also say they found higher-income parents tend to gesture more.
