The national economic stimulus is reaching one trillion dollars and a local Congressman says that's out of control.
In order to gauge what's best for the local economy Congressman Mac Thornberry met with several local experts today.
It was more than a week ago when Congressman Thornberry... And all other Republican representatives, voted no on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
As the senate debates the bill, Congressman Thornberry met for over an hour, with several dozen people at the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce today, discussing what is best for the Panhandle.
Thornberry says he heard their message, despite the fact that it may be too late to get things into this stimulus bill.
"I think we're going to be talking about the economy for months to come. So there will be time to push for the things that will be important to our area," said Congressman Thornberry (R-Clarendon).
Several people who attended today's meeting said this current stimulus plan hurts the Panhandle, because it uses taxpayer dollars to spend our way out of the economic crisis.
