Plainview Peanut Plant Questioned

The head of the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee questions why a peanut plant in Plainview was uninspected and unlicensed since 2005.

The Peanut Corporation of America is run by the same company responsible for the national salmonella outbreak and was only recently inspected by Texas health officials.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture suspended the peanut company from participating in government contract programs for at least a year.

The company denies any wrongdoing in the outbreak and says its Georgia plant had regular state and federal inspections last year.
