Area electricity workers to help storm recovery in Missouri

28 Xcel Energy employees left from Amarillo Thursday morning to help with ice storm recovery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

The workers from Amarillo, Hereford, Dumas, Borger and Lubbock left around seven Thursday morning.

They'll head to Memphis, Tennessee tonight.

Then tomorrow they'll head to Missouri, where 36,000 customers don't have electricity.

The group planned for a two week deployment, but could come back earlier depending on how fast they finish.
