Running up a bill on a credit card belonging to someone else is a problem Amarillo police say they see all too often. It is also what they believe one Amarillo man did all around town.
Police tell us they have thousands of warrants out for credit card abuse. They hope by asking for your help in finding this man, it will be at least a stepping stone in getting the problem under control.
Take a close look at Randal Scott Downey. He is wanted for allegedly stealing a credit card. Corporal Sean Slover of Amarillo Crime Stoppers says, " he has three felony warrants out of both counties - he went on a shopping spree with a stolen credit card."
Slover says Downey racked up hundreds of dollars on a company credit card at convenience stores around town, a scenario police say they often hear. Slover says, "this is worse than check forgery, and it's harder to track because there is no physical evidence."
While one stays away from police, another fugitive has been found. Slover says, "Lupita Hernandez turned herself in the very next day after we aired her warrants."
You saw those warrants on NewsChannel 10. But no such luck for two others.
Slover says they are still looking for Santos Rodriguez, a sex offender with a parole warrant, and Tuan Robert Nguyen, wanted for alleged aggravated robbery and dangerous drugs.
If you have any information on these fugitives, you are asked to contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400 or you can email or text your tip through www.amapolice.org .
