Economic Stimulus Plan Could Help Students with Tuition

Students are having a tougher time paying for college.

Even though the economy is crumbling, college tuition is rocketing higher, up 268 percent over the last three decades alone.

President Barack Obama's stimulus plan could help.

For example, the Hope Scholarship Tax Credit would be temporarily increased.

The bill also includes a Pell Grant increase and an increase in how much a student can borrow under the government's unsubsidized Stafford Loan Program.

The Pell Grant is a need-based grant that goes to low-income undergraduate students.

Students could see this help soon, as the new stimulus bill is expected to be passed in a few weeks.
