New School Dedicated following devastating Tornado

Sweetwater, Oklahoma, 6 miles over the border into Oklahoma from Wheeler County, has finished building their school following the devastating Tornado in 2007.

The Sweetwater School held a dedication Monday night for the multipurpose building and Don Riley Gymnasium.

They named the gym after the superintendent who vowed not to the let the small district die.

The Tornado in May 2007 severely damaged the school and a church building, and destroyed eight homes.

The day after, Riley promised that school would start on time in the fall.

The school has around 85 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

It is one of state's smallest districts.
