In his farewell address last night, Bush said the U.S. is fighting the good fight against an evil enemy who "demands total obedience to an oppressive ideology, condemns women to subservience, and marks unbelievers for murder.'' Americans, he said, believe "that freedom is the universal gift of Almighty God.'' Reflecting on his domestic polices, Bush said, "The addicted and suffering are finding new hope through faith-based programs'' and "vulnerable human life is better protected.'' Bush said, as president, he has followed his conscience. He thanked Americans for their prayers, and said, "May God bless this house and our next president.''
