Deadly Infection in Curry County

A streptococcus infection killed two people in Curry County.

Another person remains in the hospital.

All three cases happened within the last week.

The New Mexico Department of Health says it has no evidence the cases are linked.

A 23 year old woman and a 53 year old man died of the infection.

Doctors at the Plains Regional Medical Center continue treating a 58 year old man.

A department spokeswoman says it's not common to see three severe cases in the same location at the same time.
