Governor Perry Comments On Texas Spending

Texas Governor Rick Perry is urging lawmakers to hold the line on spending and resist temptations to raise taxes. He addressed industry leaders about the fragile economy, Governor Perry he said, "Texas has the strongest economy in the nation, but it is feeling the effects of a global meltdown."

Last summer, state leaders predicted an 11-billion dollar budget surplus. A few months later, much of that money had dried up with rising costs. State lawmakers will head into a five month session in January.
