Accident Leads To Drug Bust On I-40

Two California people are in the Wheeler County jail this afternoon facing drug charges following a traffic accident.

D.P.S. troopers say an SUV crashed 1 mile west of Shamrock on Interstate 40 Wednesday morning. Witnesses say one of the occupants emerged from the wreckage and tossed a bag over a nearby fence. Troopers investigated and say they found Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Marijuana inside the bag.

David Wayne Morris and Marquisa Lavette Smith, both of Highland, California, were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Troopers believe the drugs originated in California and were headed for Arkansas.
