Wayne Bent Found Guilty

The leader of a apocalyptic cult in Union County is found guilty on three counts.

A jury in Taos found Wayne Bent guilty on one count of criminal sexual contact of a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The allegations involved 14- and 16-year old sisters in July and August 2006.

Bent was acquitted on the criminal sexual contact charge involving the younger girl.

Sentencing is tentatively set for December 29th.

He could face up to 12 years in prison.

Bent is the self-described Messiah and leader of The Lord Our Righteousness Church located just outside of Clayton.
