NEW YORK (AP) - A collection of photographs of Marilyn Monroe, spanning her lifetime from obscurity to Hollywood sex goddess, is being offered for sale this month.
The collection captures Monroe in all her manifestations - playful, sexy, innocent, insecure and anguished - as chronicled by some of the biggest names in photography, including Richard Avedon and Bert Stern.
The more than 100 images will be sold at Christie's auction house in three sessions on December 16-17.
Christie's say it's the largest Monroe collection to come on the market. Many of the prints were featured in a 2004 Brooklyn Museum exhibition titled "I Wanna Be Loved By You."
Highlights include 59 images from what is known as the "Last Sitting" - shot for Vogue magazine just weeks before the actress' death in 1962.
