Texico police investigate shooting death

TEXICO, N.M. (AP) _ Eastern New Mexico authorities are investigating a robbery at a Texico home that resulted in the death of one man.

Police said two people entered the home Tuesday night and proceeded to rob the residents at gunpoint. One of the victims was battered and another was shot.

The gunshot victim, identified as Elvin Osmin Orellanna Rivera of Honduras, died at the scene. Police said another group of two or three people assaulted the residents of the home next door before the suspects left in a vehicle that had been parked nearby.

Police said the suspects were believed to be Hispanic men. One was wearing a black vest with a long sleeve undershirt, and the others were wearing pull over shirts with hoods.
