An Amarillo man is in jail, after police say he robbed three businesses and attempted to rob a fourth.

Amarillo police arrested 22 year old Michael Edward Kaye around 4:30 Tuesday morning. They say the first robbery happened around 3:45 a.m. at the Taylor's at 45th and Western.

The clerk told officers Kaye walked in wearing a ski mask, pulled out a pistol, went behind the counter and took some cash. Investigators say they received another robbery call ten minutes later from the Taylor's in the 1900 block of south Bell. About five minutes later, the What-A-Burger at 34th and Coulter reported an attempted robbery. Workers told him he couldn't come in. They say Kaye showed the gun and tried to in through the drive-up window, but employees would not give him any money. According to police, the crime spree continued about 20 minutes later, when police say he robbed a Toot-N-Totum at 1400 Amarillo Boulevard east.

Following that robbery the chase began. Police say Kaye led them from North Grand and Amarillo Boulevard, across the city to Quail Creek and Plum Creek, where officers stopped Kaye by spiking his tires. They say Kaye managed to drive to the Library on West 9th where he was arrested.

They've booked him into the Potter County Jail on two counts of aggravated robbery, with another charge pending in Randall County.
