WASHINGTON (AP)_ It's not exactly "Merry Christmas'' or even "Happy Holidays''. The American Humanist Association will go public on Washington DC Metro buses with a godless ad campaign for the winter holidays.
Some buses will carry the ads on their sides, additional ones will have taillight ads, and still others will feature ads prominently inside, behind the driver's seat. The campaign is similar to one recently announced in the U.K. by the British Humanist Association. It features the slogan, "There's Probably No God. Now Stop Worrying and Enjoy Your Life.'' But the American Humanist Association says its new ad will more directly challenge the viewer and clearly connect the message to the holidays. Spokesman Fred Edwords says the aim is to show people can be ethical and happy without believing in a supreme being. He says it's not an attack on others for their beliefs or an attempt to convert them.
