Randall County Approves Courthouse Restoration

By a tight margin, Randall County voters approve the use of county tax dollars to go toward courthouse restoration.

23,967 people voted for restoration while 21,050 voted against the measure.

A difference of 2,917 votes.

The early numbers were much closer with only a 309 votes splitting the two sides when early voting numbers were handed out just after polls closed at 7 p.m.

The Commission for Restoration says they are excited to see the Commissioner's Court move forward with refurbishing the outside of the courthouse.

They are excited that the county voted for restoration, proving it was not an issue pitting Canyon against Amarillo.

Now the commissioners have the ability to move forward, but it is not yet known when construction will begin.
