Rabies Cases Increase In the Panhandle

Area rabies cases have been increasing this year.

The Texas Department of Health has confirmed 21 cases in the Panhandle so far this year.

That is fifteen more cases than in 2002.

Officials say most of the time, skunks are the animals diagnosed with the disease.

However they are warning all pet owners to make sure your animals are vaccinated to help prevent the spread of rabies.
