Pirates are Taking Over Palo Duro Canyon

Read, Set, Go !

The Pirates of the Canyon Balloon Rally kicks off this weekend. The Buzz got a special ride this morning. The Ajuura Dreamer was nice enough to let us tag along.

The balloon is 71 feet high with a rainbow color. Tom Gardner has been a balloon pilot for 11 years. He tells the Buzz that there is no way to steer a balloon. It all is dependent on the wind and altitude. Gardner tells us that ballooning is a social sport. Balloons from allover the Tri-State area are in town. One of the reasons is, no one is ever allowed to fly in the canyon.

The balloons can be viewed Saturdayafternoon at the Tradewind airport from 2-4. Sunday morning in Palo Duro Canyon starting at 6. Admission is free but you will have to pay gate admission to get into the canyon.
