LOS ANGELES (AP) _ New movies typically vanish from theaters in less than a month, but the Christian film "Fireproof'' is still attracting audiences in its seventh week.
The drama starring Kirk Cameron as a firefighter who turns to God to save his marriage has earned more than $28 million at the box office. That more than 50 times what it cost to produce. "Fireproof'' was co-written and directed by the Rev. Alex Kendrick with the help of volunteers from his congregation at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. The film also has inspired a best-selling spinoff, a book titled "The Love Dare,'' which challenges couples to work at making their marriages succeed.
