Amarillo College Gets Funding For Wind Energy Program

The Amarillo City Commission awarded Amarillo College nearly half a million dollars to get it's wind energy program off the ground.

Amarillo College is planning on training wind technicians starting next year, and the program is mainly funded through state and federal grants.

But those grants are many months away, so the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation is giving A.C. $440 thousand.

The money is meant for facility funding, program equipment, training, and program operation.

A.C. hopes to have classes start this January.
