Think Before Buying Pink

Walk into any grocery store and you'll be inundated with items marked with a pink ribbon... Meaning if you buy that product proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research, but in some cases, its not that simple.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so there's an extra push in stores across the nation for products with that pink ribbon label. Most agree that even one dollar donated to Susan G. Komen is beneficial, but in some cases, you should think before you buy pink. In a statement from the Susan G. Komen Foundation, they recommend you ask yourself these five questions.

1) Is this company committed to the cause?
2) Who exactly does the program benefit?
3) How will the organization that benefits use my money?
4) Is the program meaningful to me?
5) How is the program structured? Meaning is the company donating per purchase or a flat rate, no matter how much people buy?
