An escaped inmate from the Potter County Jail is in police custody tonight after four days on the lam.
During their investigation, authorities say they determined Joshua Duane Barnes was in an area motel.
They say at around six Wednesday evening, Potter County Sheriff's deputies figured out Barnes was at the Luxury Inn Motel in Amarillo.
They knocked on the door to try to talk to Barnes, but no one answered. Captain Greg Daniel says, "the door busted open, Barnes busted out of the room, jumped off the second story balcony, and a foot chase ensued."
We are told four officers then chased Barnes into another motel parking lot nearby.
An undercover Amarillo Police Department officer was in the Best Value Inn parking lot, and helped Potter County authorities get Barnes into custody.
The 20 year old escaped from the Potter County Jail this past Saturday, apparently from a hole he cut in the roof.
He was facing 20 years in jail for various burglary charges. He also escaped from a Potter County courtroom back in June.
