Chemical Bomb Explodes in High School Restroom, Male Student Charged

A fifteen-year-old Palo Duro High School student is in custody in connection with an explosion in a men's restroom.

The explosion was set off in the bathroom near the cafeteria by a chemical bomb.

Police say the bomb was made from common household chemicals and a plastic bottle.

A teacher reportedly saw the student leave the restroom hurriedly before the bomb went off.

Investigators say they have recovered evidence linking the 15-year-old student to the device.

He is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon in a weapon-free zone which is a second degree felony.

The blast caused no injuries and no damage.
