An Amarillo couple who cares deeply about our American troops started Socks for Soldiers back in 2005. Carolyn Miller and her husband Doug along with their daughter send care packs to troops in Iraq. It all started when some of Carolyn's students were sent to Iraq and she wanted to do something special for them. Since the program began, more than 15,000 soldiers have received care packs.
Numerous churches and civic groups have pitched in to help, donating money and time to help packing bundles of socks, toiletries and a special note for soldiers. The Millers have received a warm response from the soldiers who have received the care packages. The packs are made in the Millers garage. All of the toiletries and socks are donated by people that want to help support their cause.
We want people to know about the great strides the Miller family is making supporting soldiers and making a difference.
