Wife Shot, Federal Officer Arrested

A federal officer faces charges of murder this evening.. the victim, his wife.

26 year old Amy and Jeff Yager met serving their country in the military... They supposedly were a happy couple.. But officials say something led to murder.

Both Amy and Jeff had been out on the town in separate groups Thursday night. They ended up home alone in their bedroom in the 61 hundred block of Hatfield.

Jeff had been driven home by a designated driver, who is also a federal officer for the Department of Energy.

The friend had then taken Jeff's truck home.

Officials say they believe Jeff shot Amy... And then walked a mile and a half to his friends house.

Lt. Gary Trupe with Potter-Randall Special Crimes says, "Jeff went over to his friends house to tell him that what was going on, the friend drove that pick up back to the scene and parked it where it was at. He told jeff to stay in the truck while he went inside the house."

The friend was the first to call 9-1-1, around 3:45 this morning. Officials say they believe the shooting happened sometime between 2:30 and 3:30.

Jeff Yager now sits segregated from regular population in the Randall County Jail.

His bond has been set at 250 thousand dollars.

Iinvestigators are still looking for friends of the couple to come forward as they continue to search for answers and a motive.
