New Phone Scam

A new telephone scam is targeting residents in the Sooner State.

Here's how it works.

You will receive a message stating there's been a serious auto accident and your phone number is on a cell phone found in the car.

Then the message will instruct you to dial a sequence of numbers starting with *72.

AT&T says that is a custom feature for call forwarding and when it's activated it sends all calls to another phone number.

This includes collect calls which are then billed back to you, the customer.

Anyone who receives such a call should report it to local law enforcement.
